Travel and COVID
March 2021

We are planning our NYE for Hawaii this year and we're counting on you to join us! Let us know if you want to join an adventurous trip or a more cultural one! To put you at ease, we gathered some information on what Hawaii is doing to help amidst the pandemic.

Travel restrictions and guidelines:

Hawaii’s 10-day self-quarantine is mandatory for all travelers arriving in one of the Hawaiian Islands. During this period, travelers cannot travel between the islands. All travelers are required to have their temperatures checked upon arrival and to complete a health questionnaire online (24 hours prior to departure) before being authorized to leave the airport.

If a traveler has a temperature of 100.4 degrees F or higher, displays COVID-19 symptoms, or provides uncertain and/or inaccurate answers on the online health form, they will be required to get additional testing and to complete a secondary screening at the airport.

The best way to get the latest news on the situation in the Hawaiian islands is by accessing their official travel website hawaiicovid19.com/travel and registering with the State of Hawaii Safe Travels online system.

Restrictions in the islands:

There is a statewide mask mandate (masks must be worn whenever out in public). Social gatherings with up to 10 people are now allowed. Groups of up to 10 people are allowed in restaurants and there is no capacity limit of 50% of legal occupancy anymore.

Vaccines:

As of March 28, more than 698,000 people have been vaccinated (at least one dose) in Hawaii, which corresponds to almost 50% of the population, according to Springfield News Leader's Vaccine Tracker. Each county has its own registration process, with some of them requiring pre-registration online and others functioning on a "first come first served" basis.
